It is a very well made lens of metal and glass that hearkens back to quality lenses from the film era. All the lettering is engraved and paint filled, and the focus and aperture rings are well dampened. With care the lens will outlive a few cameras.
The image quality is very good. There is almost no vailing flare. Ghosting can be an issue, but can be avoided with a little moving around. It is sharp enough to use all the pixels of my 24MP Sony A7ii. Images have good contrast and saturation.
I really enjoy this lens. If it is a sunny day I set the focus at infinity and the aperture between 5.6 and 8 and concentrate on composition. Because the lens is quite sharp, focusing is necessary for large apertures and close subjects.
Speaking of composition there is always more in the frame than I expect. I find being able to say "I meant to do that" with a straight face usually takes care of any surprises.
The lens is fully manual with no electrical communication with camera. Click-less aperture ring is not for everyone. There is no filter option. The extreme wide angle means the front element is protruding and vulnerable, but non-removable hood and high quality lens cap provide protection.
