A wonderful specialty lens

Online feedback on this lens is scarce, with some reviews negative, so I'd like to share here some positives I found while using my copy.
Just as the specifications and price suggest, this is not the lens to deliver an optical stellar performance across the board; this is a lens designed for a certain kind of optically-flawed vintage aesthetic, with softer images at wider apertures. This lens does not fit into the "nifty fifty" category, rather it is more of a specialty lens, delivering a tastefully flawed image rendering, where you need to invest some time figuring out which scenarios work and which don't, such that it is not really a beginner-friendly option, rather oriented for someone who already knows the look and is willing to embrace it.
A big plus for this manual-only lens is its outer mechanical design, as it offers an exceptionally enjoyable user experience. Whether it was just a cosmetic choice (to mimic the look of a Nikkor AI) or a more deliberate choice, the mechanical engineers have done good with features like a hard-clicking (thank you so much) aperture ring or the prism-shaped knurlings, not just on the rings, but also on the part of the barrel closest to the mount, making it such a breeze to confidently grip and control what you want all the time (changing f-stop, focusing, mounting)!
It is not void of drawbacks though, with lens flare being the more important, the less important being some minor cosmetic QC issues I found on my copy (which don't affect the image).
If Pergear decide to make an updated version, I'd like to suggest they tweak the optical design to cover a full-frame image circle, even at the expense of changing the focal to a 55 or 58mm or reasonably increasing its price point.

So I'm doubly satisfied.

I'm responding to your kind invitation to share my opinion as the owner of the PERGEAR 50mm f/1.2 lens.

I have a friend who has equipment for analyzing and testing photographic lenses. Before lending my Pergear 50mm f/1.2 to my friend, I had taken some photos with it, and honestly, for its price, it performs exceptionally well, even better than I expected before buying it. I'm very satisfied with it, and I'll tell you something you might not know. I practice infrared photography, and this Pergear is fantastic for it, even when the aperture is stopped down as much as possible. Many other lenses from other manufacturers produce a defect called "Hot Spot" when the aperture is closed, which ruins the photos.

So I'm doubly satisfied.

Below is the link to my friend's website (in Spanish) where you can read his review of the Pergear 50mm f/1.2:

I will be following Pergear's new products with interest.

Thank you very much.
