Excellent lens for the money !
But note:
Focusing in AF-S and AF-A = aperture goes wide open > focus > aperture closes > photo is taken. At F8, this takes about -1 sec.
Focusing in AF-C = aperture stays closed and focusing and the photo taken is instantly.
So if you need a bit of speed, use AF-C !

Let’s start with the downsides. The autofocus is quite slow, and you can definitely hear it working — not ideal for video or quiet environments. The lens hood doesn’t fit very securely either, which can be a bit annoying. It’s also on the heavier side due to its metal construction.
That said, the image quality is impressive. The results are sharp and absolutely usable. There’s some nice character to the rendering, with flares that add a bit of personality to your shots. Despite the weight, the build feels solid and gives you a confident grip.
All in all, it’s a lens with quirks, but also with charm — and when it delivers, it really delivers.
Lens that is definitely worth more than it costs. Solid and accurate construction with a silent and very well-functioning autofocus. Very useful is the possibility of updating the firmware via the rear cap of the lens. It interfaces perfectly with the Sony-E system.

Very nice piece of glass. I haven't tried AF much in low light. Using manual plus focus assist on an A7R3. One of the best bang for the buck lenses I have ever used
