On August 2, Viltrox annouce they will released the new AF 28mm F4.5 VCM ASPH ED autofocus full-frame pancake lens soon, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.32 meters, using a VCM voice coil motor, and is expected to be available for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts.
The lens will be exhibited for the first time at the Shanghai International Photographic Equipment and Digital Video Expo from August 7 to 9, 2024, along with the new Viltrox AF 40mm F2.5 E and the AF 56mm F1.7 E lenses.
In June this year, Viltrox exposed a 28mm pancake lens patent, which looks very similar to this 28mm F4.5 lens. From the patent description, the new lens has electronic contacts and will be a full-frame lens that supports autofocus.
